CPD points

CPD points that count, with certificates anyone can verify

Accountants, tax practitioners, teachers, nurses, social workers and IT professionals must earn CPD points every year to stay registered. Our CPD courses teach the digital and AI skills your work now needs, and every certificate shows the CPD hours, your registration number and how your learning was verified.

How CPD points work

Every profession counts CPD in its own way

Your professional body sets how many CPD points or hours you need and what counts. Here is how it works for the professions we train, and where our courses stand with each. Rules change, so always check your own body's current requirements.

ProfessionHow CPD is countedOur courses
AccountantsSAICA, SAIPA, ACCA, CIMASAICA's CPD is based on outcomes: members declare every year and keep a learning plan, rather than counting a fixed number of hours. SAIPA asks for about 40 hours a year, half of them structured. Members claim learning they can verify. Our finance courses count as verifiable CPD now: the certificate states the hours and how attendance and learning were checked.
Tax practitionersSARS-recognised controlling bodies, such as SAITAt least 18 verifiable hours a year: 10 on tax, 2 on ethics and 6 related to the services you provide. Our Copilot, Excel and Power BI courses fit the service-related hours.
TeachersSACE (South African Council for Educators)150 professional development points in every three-year cycle, from teacher-initiated (Type 1), school-initiated (Type 2) and externally provided, SACE-endorsed (Type 3) activities.SACE endorsement of our teachers' workshop is being applied for. A school that hosts the workshop for its own staff can already record it as a school-initiated (Type 2) activity.
Nurses and midwivesSANC (South African Nursing Council)15 CPD points a year, in a cycle from 1 July to 30 June, from activities offered by SANC-recognised CPD providers.Recognition as a SANC CPD provider is being applied for. Until it is granted, our nurses' course carries no SANC points.
Social workersSACSSP (South African Council for Social Service Professions)CPD is required to stay registered, through activities the Council has approved.SACSSP approval is applied for per session, six weeks before it runs; points are shown once approved.
IT professionalsIITPSA (Institute of Information Technology Professionals South Africa)Professional Members earn 72 CPD units over three years, Certified Members 48; members are audited at random. Our certificates give the hours for your CPD record. IITPSA-accredited points are being applied for.
Our CPD certificates

What your certificate proves

Verifiable CPD means someone other than you can confirm the learning took place. Every certificate we issue for a CPD course carries the four things a professional body or auditor looks for.

The CPD hours

The contact hours of the course, printed on the certificate as verifiable CPD.

Your registration number

Your SANC, SACE, SACSSP or membership number, printed under your name, as professional bodies ask.

How it was checked

Attendance taken on a register for every session, and learning assessed by a short practical task or quiz.

A link anyone can verify

Each certificate has a reference and a QR code. Your body, an auditor or an employer can confirm it online at beplugged.co.za/verify.

We keep the registers, assessments and certificate records for at least five years, so you can be audited with confidence.

CPD courses

Courses that count for your CPD points

Accountants, tax practitioners, teachers, nurses, social workers and IT professionals must earn CPD every year. Every certificate states the CPD hours, how attendance and learning were checked, and a link anyone can use to verify it.

How CPD points work

CPD for teachers (SACE)

SACE endorsement is being applied for; schools can host any of these for their staff now.

Questions

CPD points: questions we are asked

What are CPD points?

Continuing professional development (CPD) points, also counted as CPD hours or units, record the learning a registered professional does to keep their knowledge current. Most professional councils and bodies require a minimum each year or in each cycle to keep your registration or designation.

What is verifiable CPD?

Learning that someone other than you can confirm took place: an attendance register, an assessment and a certificate from the provider. Bodies such as SAICA and SAIPA accept verifiable CPD from any provider, provided it is relevant to your work; they do not accredit providers.

Are your courses SACE-endorsed or SANC-recognised?

Not yet. Our applications to SACE (teachers) and SANC (nurses) are being prepared, and SACSSP approves each social work session separately. We will only show endorsed points once the council has approved them. Courses for accountants and tax practitioners count as verifiable CPD now.

How do I claim the points?

Keep the certificate, and record the course, date and hours in your body's CPD record or portal (SACE's self-service portal, SAICA's member declaration, and so on). If your body asks for proof, give it the certificate or its verification link.

Do online courses count?

Live online sessions on Microsoft Teams count where your body accepts online learning: attendance is recorded from the Teams report and the register, and the assessment is done online. Check your own body's rules; some councils set their own conditions for online activities.

Can our organisation book a CPD course for a group?

Yes. We run CPD courses for teams at your offices, at a school, clinic or district venue, online, or at our training centre in Thohoyandou. Each participant receives their own certificate with their registration number.
